Formula 1’s original night race. Since 2008 the cars have run through downtown Singapore after dark, on a street circuit wrapped around Marina Bay - the only race where the city itself is the venue.
The dates
Friday 9 to Sunday 11 October 2026, with the Grand Prix on Sunday night. Race season takes over the city from the 2nd - the circuit parks fill with headline concerts, and the rooftops above the track book out first.
The first Sprint
2026 is Singapore’s first ever Sprint weekend, and the last Sprint round of the season: Sprint qualifying Friday, a Sprint race Saturday, the Grand Prix Sunday. Three days, three sessions that count - there has never been a Singapore weekend with this much racing in it.
Getting there from India
Around five and a half hours from the metros. Indian passport holders need a visa - allow three to four weeks. Race-week hotels inside the circuit zones move months out.
Why this one matters
Every seat at Marina Bay watches the same thing: a Formula 1 car at 300 km/h under floodlights, with the skyline behind it. The Sprint makes 2026 the fullest edition the race has ever run, and the music is not an afterthought: ten stages across the weekend, headlined by The Killers and Lana Del Rey, with every ticket tier including the concerts. What is the weather like in Singapore during the Grand Prix?
Singapore is equatorial and does not really have seasons: 31 degrees, humid, with a thunderstorm most afternoons that passes within the hour. The race runs at night partly for this reason, though the track holds the day's heat and the grandstands stay warm long after dark.
What should I wear to the Singapore Grand Prix?
Light and breathable, and shoes you can walk several kilometres in. A Marina Bay race weekend involves far more walking than people expect - the circuit is a city street layout and the walk between zones is long. A thin poncho beats an umbrella in a grandstand. Ear protection is worth carrying: an F1 field at close range is loud enough to matter across three days.
How much water do you need at a night race?
The heat is constant rather than dramatic, which is what catches people out. Drink steadily through the afternoon before gates rather than relying on the queues once the support races start.
How do you get to the Marina Bay circuit?
The MRT is the fastest way to the circuit and runs late on race nights; Grab surges heavily after the chequered flag. The city is small enough that most things are twenty minutes apart, which is what makes race week workable - the concerts, the paddock and dinner can genuinely be the same evening.
When should you arrive for the Singapore Grand Prix?
Thursday, if you can. Practice on Friday and the Sprint sessions are part of the weekend rather than a warm-up, and arriving on Saturday means paying for the weekend and seeing half of it.
Do Indians need a visa for Singapore?
Indian passport holders need a visa for Singapore, applied for through an authorised agent or the ICA portal and usually issued multiple-entry. The SG Arrival Card must also be submitted within three days of arrival. Race weekend is a peak period, so apply early.
What do Grand Prix tickets actually get you?
Marina Bay sells by zone rather than by seat alone. A Walk About gives you movement across large parts of the circuit with no reserved seat; grandstands give a fixed view of one section; premium and hospitality tiers add paddock or suite access. Every tier includes the concerts, which run each night of the weekend.
How much walking is a night race?
A great deal. Marina Bay is a street circuit and the grandstands, zones and concert stages are spread around it, so a Walk About ticket in particular means hours on your feet across three days. Anyone who pictures a Grand Prix as sitting down has not been to this one.
